If there's anything we've learned in the Holl & Lane community, it's that every single one of us is courageous. Sometimes in those big, change-the-world moments, and other times in the quieter, everyday moments of life. We all have a story inside of us about the courage we've shown in the face of fear, adversity, health issues, relationship/family/career worries, and other life struggles.
Since we're obviously huge fans of women sharing their stories through writing, we'd love to share these 7 writing prompts with you to explore how courage has impacted your life. Use them for your journal, your blog, personal essays, articles, poetry, or Instagram captions - the possibilities are endless. If you write something inspired by these prompts, let us know in the comments or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org - we'd love to read about it!
7 Writing Prompts About Courage to Help You Uncover Your Story
1.) What is courage? What does it mean to you?
2.) Write about a time when your courage failed you. What happened? If you could go back in time and change it, what would you do differently (if anything)?
3.) What's the most courageous thing you've ever done? Think big picture events and accomplishments here.
4.) What are some examples of everyday courage in your life? Those smaller, equally important ways you've shown up in your life and for others.
5.) Who is someone that you think is courageous? Why?
6.) Write what first comes to mind when you read this quote: "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." (from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling)
7.) List the things you are afraid of - how can you overcome them?
