A (Mom's) Day In The Life

[dropcap]M[/dropcap]y boys, #babyD and #babyD2, have recently turned 2 and 1 and life just keeps getting more and more interesting. Thankfully, both boys are generally good sleepers, and their day begins between 7:00 and 7:30. One of the things I have been working on in the past several weeks is training myself to get up before they do so I can get a workout in, so my day usually starts around 6:00. Our mornings are full of the usual chaos of taking care of the animals, getting two parents ready for work, and getting two toddlers ready for daycare, and I am thankful on a daily basis that the boys’ daycare feeds them breakfast, so that we don’t have to think about that each morning.
I work in a law office, so my days are full of phone calls and paper – lots and lots of paper – but hubby and I work in the same office building which happens to be about 10 minutes from our home, so that makes it convenient for me to come home every day at lunch time to let the dogs out.
Picking up the boys from daycare and spending the evening with them is always one of the highlights of my day. They aren’t picky eaters, but they both enjoy feeding the dogs, so there’s more than the usual “stop throwing your food” going on at my house. The boys are little water babies, so they love bath time and they stay and play until one of them pulls the plug, or someone starts splashing too aggressively and mom says that it’s time to get out. Stories these days are usually Pete the Cat books, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, or books about animals that #babyD can practice identifying.
Once the boys are down (usually between 7:00 and 7:30) that’s when our evening begins, and I attempt to get some dinner ready for the adults, tackle Mount Laundry, sweep up a little dog hair, and get clean sheets on the bed. If I’m lucky (or particularly motivated), I’ll also get a blog post done, check in with my fitness accountability groups, or get some reading done.
Life is not complicated, but it is wonderfully busy.
